Being able to proclaim that God is your saviour or good shepherd is one thing, but following in His action, spreading the word of God in this chaotic world and doing his will, is another.
I used to to live life very materialistically, always wanting on brand or good grades, I mean sure tons of people aim for that in life -- don’t they? But while living this life, trying to live life to the fullest there was a sense of emptiness and "what ifs", of the things I could have done or done better and also regrets about situations which I’ve put myself into.
There is this bible verse a friend of mine shared with me:
“For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control” - 2 Timothy 1:7
This really hit me right at the heart of most of my troubles and problems. I’ve learned to find strength in God and in all things that I do, do it out of love as God called me to love. I was made through love and to love. I’ve learned to live with self-control, and in all things wrong turn to God ask for forgiveness or calm myself down and ask God for peace.
And most importantly, to live with joy radiating out of me as I learn to love and not fear either judgement or doing activities out of my comfort zone. I've started enjoying life even more and being able to find the many little blessings that God has showered upon me. I still have my flaws, sometimes it’s still hard not to be materialistic with my friends who are not Christian influencing me and it’s also really hard to not to doubt God and your own abilities. But if you do it out of love, following the will of God, then love will drown out all fear, slowly but surely you’ll be filled with the Joy of our Living God.
